Choosing The Right Domain Name Is Crucial In Online Business

People more at home with traditional business principles may be easily confused when they go online. You have to think from a whole new perspective. In online business the net is a different planet where your streets are called links and storefronts are pages. Here your place may look a pretty as pie, but who you are is more important to get people to come and look. That is why choosing the right domain name is critically important.

A domain is in a URL to identify web pages. Each has a specific suffix like dot com, . Net, dot org, dot gov, etc. To choose the name, we have to keep several things in mind. Your domain will represent who you are on the internet and it will help generate traffic to your page.

Anyone who uses a computer knows that that reach a place online, you must enter an address. In the virtual word seconds count, the letters in front of the dot com or dot net part of the web address is of crucial importance. They must be easy to remember and easy to type.

A website is an advertisement and a virtual storefront rolled into one. It should fascinate users and at the same time get a message across. Virtual people are not really buyers, they are window shoppers. They need something specific. That is why they do searches. Once they reach your page you may convince them to stop and buy. The tricky part is to get them to the page. This is where a name is of crucial importance. Thus part of your hugely important sales strategy, aside from the appearance of the page, is selecting the proper identity.

A word like Google probably doesn’t even make sense but it is eye catching. It is short and easy to say and remember. It is also unique. That is why it is an excellent domain name. You may want to register a similar name, but face the problem that you don’t want to pay a lot of money for it, because they are usually not free.

For businesses on a quest to succeed, names are a crucial part of the success recipe. The jeans company, Diesel is an example. When they start an ad campaign, they register a identity fitting that campaign. The Diesel Be Stupid campaign is everywhere. You may see the ad painted on a bus and remember the catchphrase. When you go online and search for Be stupid there it is – Diesel comes up.

Domain names can be a marketing tool. So don’t assume that picking an online identity is a once only step. Re-branding is a major part of business strategy. It must be done as often as required. A website is partly advertisement and party storefront. It must fascinate users plus also making it easy to access the desired information. Part of making that very important, is choosing the right domain name.

Its depends on what you are trying to do, if you are doing branding and the name cannot be changed then yes you need to try variations. If the name of the products or service is yet to be created the .com will be your best choice by far. If its for a product review site or marketing site then you can just add keyword modifiers to the beginning or the end of the url. Try to stick with buying and natural search terms this will help pre qualify the users click thru.

Here is an example for for this site we added the keyword modifier bonus to the end of the domain and separated the main product title with – (dashes). I find that its easier to read but this is not a great strategy for products or business branding as its to hard to say the domain url name and for someone to type it in if you where to tell them. Hope this helps.
